One option would be to slap on Genesis Silver/Gold endcaps (I happen to have a matching set specifically for right-side swing tray).
Another option would be to move the clips to underneath the lid handle (I might try it this weekend) so that they sit between the firebox and the frame.

If you use a 2000 or 3000 frame no problem.

Does that work for the durawood and wood trays? I would love to try that as part of an idea I have to meld the best of the 1000 series and Silver.
