Do pigs still have "BUTTS" ????

Am I missing it, Has anyone in North Eastern Pa had butts on sale latley.

What's up ???

My freezer stock (PP), is all gone, Down to my last half rack of frozen spares ?

Do mean to tell me I'm going to have to pay "full" price for some pork butts.

Sorry to vent but I've been looking for the last 4-6 weeks, for a sale on pork butts.

Oh well I feel better, but still have no pork.

The last sale that I got on Butts was at Wegemans of all places. The look on my wife's face when I came home, priceless... Of course I already had a whole pig in the freezer so I understand her concern. But Weggies had a end cooler stacked high with them about 3 weeks ago.

Iam a freezer stocker and NO ONE has had them dirt cheap IMO around here in a while ! I paid $1.89 to as HI as $2,29 a lb for my last 4 or 5.

I was getting them from as cheap as .99 lb to 1.39 . Duno whats gives !

OPPS I lied my wifes says she paid a $1.69 lb for the 3 she bought that I smoked on the 4th . But thats stil higher than we were paying .And according to her that was on an advertised sale at of all places Kroger ! There normaly higher than anyone else around here .

weg's here was 99/lb for over a year but went up to 1.39 a couple of months ago. I lucked into 1.19/lb at Rest Depot but that price was for >50lb (I was buying 100lb).

There was a post up in the just conversation section discussing how meat prices are going up. I think the central point was that meat prices were at all time lows for a long time, and the producers were finally getting their herds down (to get prices up) when the economy turned (which made things worse).

Live hog prices hit $60 in May.
Good news for hog producers, bad news for pork eaters.
Summer holidays nearly always bring prices of 99 cents per lb. or less in my area, but were $1.17 this past 4th.

Guess I'll just have to keep my eyes open.

Wanted to cook about 3 butts, to eat and freeze. Oh well !!


Chicken's on sale this week so that what I'll cook.
