This is for Joan, in response to her slow cooker thread.
I searched the web and borrowed this from a few sites.
This is similar to the canned version.
This is a great way to use all those odd/small pieces of ham from a shank/butt or spiral.
1 1/2 cups cubed ham
3 T mayonnaise
2 T yellow mustard
5 drops of hot sauce
1 t garlic powder
1 t onion powder
1/2 t celery salt
1/2 t ground black pepper
1/2 t paprika
1 pinch caraway seeds ( optional )
Add these to a bowl and stir to combine.
Use an immersion blender or food processor to puree the ingredients to your desired texture.
Stir in
1/4 C finely diced onion
1/4 C finely diced celery.
Chill before serving.
I use crackers or rye toast, and its also good in a grilled cheese.
If your ham tastes salty omit the celery salt and use celery seed.
