If it was closer, I’d probably jump on the summit wagon! Third Lake, IL
Do what I do. Set your search radius to 15 to 20 miles out and this stuff in Illinois won't tempt you as much. I wouldn't even drive to this place place for a grill.

I’ve never been shy about making a long ride or even an overnight trip for a grill but this one is still outta my range, unfortunately. Love the look…especially with the blue.

Third Lake is not that far from you. Pretty much a shot up 59 and a little east.
But, re the grill the grates alone are worth the $75 But if someone wanted to place those SS panels from Jon in it, it could very likely turn out to be a very fine grill. Yeah it's got the foibles of the new Genesis models (fairly useless for rotisserie) but for straight up grilling they're remarkable grills

True, about a 45 minute drive according to Google maps. It's far enough though for something that doesn't push all the buttons for me. Me not wanting to drive very far for these things or pay more than $30-40 for them is what keeps me in check. The other thing that holds me back now is that I got rid of the old SUV that I was using to pick up grills and I don't want to put dirty old grills in the brand new one that replaced it, but I'm sure I still will when the need arises. I've got to be in the right mood for it too. Man, I'm just full of excuses😀

That's actually really good Steve. Knowing that you want and what you are willing to do or not do is very important. If a good deal pops up you have to have that figured out ahead of time so you can make a split second decision. If it really is a good deal hesitation will mean losing it to someone else.

Hey there is a button for everything. I get it. Like right now, I wouldn't go next door to get a grill. I don't need or want one and I rarely if ever use a gasser anymore. I like them but I don't rebuild them. So, it's just not my cup of tea either. I get it. Just bustin your chops bud

It's just a hobby for me to build whatever grills I want to keep or give away. The projects are fun for me and I enjoy trying different grills along the way. So as long as I have a little spare time I'll continue to dabble. No hurry on anything. Just enjoying my journey. I saved several thousand dollars when I was flipping grills. I'll just use that to pay for my restorations hobby. Nice to have a hobby that pays for itself. That way I don't feel like I'm taking anything from my family. My wife and I are savers we don't spend much.

I like restoring grills, I don't like collecting old grills for the sake of having as many as I can get my hands on. When I come upon the right situation I act. It's better for me not to have too many lying around anyway as I will ignore things that I should be doing in my free time to work on grills.
