Do what I do. Set your search radius to 15 to 20 miles out and this stuff in Illinois won't tempt you as much. I wouldn't even drive to this place place for a grill.View attachment 122182

Third Lake is not that far from you. Pretty much a shot up 59 and a little east.
Hopefully he still has the side burner for it, appears to be a Genesis 5000 since it has the glass doors. Definitely worth restoring.
True, about a 45 minute drive according to Google maps. It's far enough though for something that doesn't push all the buttons for me. Me not wanting to drive very far for these things or pay more than $30-40 for them is what keeps me in check. The other thing that holds me back now is that I got rid of the old SUV that I was using to pick up grills and I don't want to put dirty old grills in the brand new one that replaced it, but I'm sure I still will when the need arises. I've got to be in the right mood for it too. Man, I'm just full of excuses
That's actually really good Steve. Knowing that you want and what you are willing to do or not do is very important. If a good deal pops up you have to have that figured out ahead of time so you can make a split second decision. I like restoring grills, I don't like collecting old grills for the sake of having as many as I can get my hands on. When I come upon the right situation I act. It's better for me not to have too many lying around anyway as I will ignore things that I should be doing in my free time to work on grills.

Works for me. In the spring I know I'll be itching to do some more restorations. In the meantime I'm content to look at other people's and throw my two cents in if it's something I'm interested in.
