I can almost guaranteed the bottom shelf in that is rusted out beyond fixing. Also, the right side has the "dropsies" which is almost a given on those grills as well. The left probably does as well but with the flip table partially extended, it is hard to tell. That being said, that frame is stainless steel and the grill is one of the best Genesis grills that Weber ever made.I'm waiting to hear back from seller on this one. $50 It's a 3+ hour drive, one way. Thoughts anyone?

It is a little on the high side, but if you needed a side burner that was in really good shape it would be worth it. Plus you could sell that NG manifold for $75 easy, they are NLA.
What exactly is “the dropsies” on these and which other model grills are susceptible? Also, the right side has the "dropsies" which is almost a given on those grills as well.

If you want a project and have some fabbing skills, it is a perfect grill to rehab. A welder is a great help on them. But, if you fix it up, it will be a grill you can hand down to your kids in 20 years.

I'd definitely offer on that one if it was driving distance from me!
Plus it's all the way down by Comiskey Park, or whatever they call it now.Not for 150 tho....

You will know as soon as you take the cook box out.Im keeping my eye out for a 3000 frame for when I disassemble mine. Im thinking I may have a rust problem based on that hole that rusted thru on the front apron ...

Push on it if you want to find out real quick.Yea i see a little rust, just dont know if its thru. Once I get the parts for the 1000 back i can get that together and get my 3000 apart

Notice how this flip up table is canted to the left in towards the cabinet. It is because weld on the bracket in the frame extension is broken. It is pretty much isolated to these SS platinum grills. It can be fixed by welding the extension in place or shoring it up by inserting bolts into it to replace the weld. What exactly is “the dropsies” on these and which other model grills are susceptible?
I just went through the same thing on this Genesis 4000, that's why it's going to be a 1000 now. I'm supposed to get my frame welded on Tuesday. I already have the rest of the frame pieces painted.Thats what I did to the apron aaahahaa

Its a photo illusion. I thought so at first but if you zoom in its durawood with the light between the slats making it look like a rack. The bottom shelf is a fridge shelf. Definitely not a OEM stuff there
Not the blue head the Platinum
