Craigslist Find....need help

Found a 18.5" Smokey Mountain for $75

It looks like the lid has been dropped and dented/scratched with a rust spot (probably the size of a golf ball). No pics of the inside though (I have asked for him to send me some)......it's an older model with no temperature gauge in the lid.

Should I proceed with trying to buy it??

I would get it. That's how much I got mine. It doesn't sound like the damages affect the performance of the WSM. If you like your new cooker maybe you can get a new one later.

Its a STEAL, grab it and a spray can of black hi temp paint

yup ...grab it up. Don't worry about a temp gauge. You should buy a maverick et 732 anyway

I'd tell him I'd take it. When I got there & looked it over, if it's not as bad as it seems, 75 is a good price.
If you can point out other flaws (dings, dents, rust, both grates rusty, charcoal grate disintegrated, charcoal ring missing, no cover, etc) then offer less.
