Costco has Genesis II e335s for $699 again


 
Could be Costco specific on the grates, Larry, I know what he means I've seen it out here. Probably "loss leaders" or blowouts by Weber. They're ss but not the high quality of by RCP grates for sure. I think with Costco everything is regional anyway. What I've seen out here doesn't apply elsewhere. I've gone to 2 different stores each 8 miles away from house in opposite directions, and they carry different stock-go figure.

It’s my understanding that Costco has three different levels of stores; premium which sell very high end stuff that other stores won’t carry or sell through, mid level which carry the full store with some upper level items (think jewelry, TVs and meats/seafood); and a everyone’s store that has all the staples without the fluff.

For example, my local Costco showcases a $40k engagement ring for sale and jumbo TVs for over $10k (seasonal). The next closest Costco, doesn’t carry either of these items and less Prime graded meat.

Costco just knows their demos really well. They’re expert retailers.

Oh you weren't at all. No need. I think you would laugh you butt off if you were in a store with me looking at grills. I literally stick my index finger between the bars if it fits then IMO they're junk. If it doesn't fit, they get my seal of approval. I wonder if people see me doing this and think something else......................................"exam"? :D

Yeah if you can fit your index finger between the bars that's definitely garbage!

We are guessing these are new-builds with existing Genesis II parts.

I guess grills for Xmas is a gift thing. Maybe a California thing due to year round grilling here?

IIRC, this is the same model Costco sold this spring. Guess it sold well enough to bring er through again.

Also present was a decent Blackstone flattop display.

Hi Dave
I was just talking to Dan the other day about some other project we did with blackout repaint. I think he mentioned that you may have done one of the first with your red grill. That conversation inspired me to do a color change gray to black on my latest project.

Well at least that's what I'm calling it lol.
Just finishing this restoration. This grill was actually in great shape and it's against my better judgment to do a full breakdown repaint for something that doesn't need it but I wanted to do this color change from gray to blackout. I'm very happy with the end result. I used high heat paint on all of the metal and I used VHT high heat plastic paint on all of the plastic parts. Including table end caps, control panel end caps, wheels and knobs. Also painted the flames inside the sear burner knob red with my daughter's acrylic paint pen. I...

I am curious to know if the date on the grill is the same as the box....
also the date on the burner tubes and fire box.

Great looking grill. I saw it the other day on
The Genesis Club as well. The blackout on mine
is show some slight fade, and I need to completely
repaint one of the shelf end caps. Members Mark
grill cleaner pretty much removed it.
