I could see uses for these. Even on some grills that have only 2 wheels. A little pricey.

Seems like a pretty “rickety” bench for such elegant casters, maybe I’m just too critical?

IMO, that's a solution for a solved problem. I'd suspect that the mechanism is an overgrown version of a push button on-off switch. I'm also wondering about longevity, and the lever forces working on the mounting screws. In short.... I don't have an application for these.
