Cooking ribs but not on my grill

Thanks for all the responses. So eveything worked out. I did end up watching them all day because this old pit they rented would not get up to temp and once it did I had to keep adding fuel to keep it up. I went through about 40 lbs of charcoal! I have to say that these ribs were awesome. They did take a little longer then normal because for the first hour I could not get the temp above 179. It took a little over 6 hours to have all of them finished. I had to move ribs and spray them every hour or so after the 3 hour mark. I used Texas BBQ Rub and a mixture of apple juice and vegetable oil as the mist and never foiled and set the pit up as a indirect grill. Again thanks for all the help and if I can figure out how to download the pictures I will. I will have to say it was a long day but man was it fun to see the faces on the people that I have never met before light up when they had real BBQ. I think one guy must of eaten 5 lbs all by himself! Thanks again everybody and I love this site. I have been reading posts for a couple years now and this was the first time I asked a question and the response was amazing. I even had responses from the names that I read all the time. Felt like a rock star!

Jeff, congratulations on a job well done. Doing pics is pretty easy. Send them to a host site, say photobucket.com, then find the link, copy and paste here.

This was taken about 1 hour before they came off. You can see the grill didn't even have a door to shut where you load the fuel. I bought a thermo probe and let it hang down the middle of the lid and blocked that hole with a napkin. I wish I had a after picture the smoke ring was crazy good. And so juicy.

Way to go, Jeff! Making good BBQ is akin to magic for lots of folks, so from now on they will think of you as The Pitmaster.

Way to go! The thing I like best is that you stuck with your own style, and made some great ribs. Nobody will ever remember that it took a long time, but nobody will ever forget those awesome ribs you cooked. They really do look great on the pic.
