Cooking 4 levels with the 26.75

Well it was a great Fathers Day. I got a warming rack for the 26. It’s the BGE XL rack. We had ten for dinner. I cooked a pot beans on the lower level using the D/O, three racks of ribs on the main grill, three more racks on the Hover grill and a dozen baked potatoes on the upper rack. Everything worked well.
Things did get a little less organized once I foiled the ribs but otherwise the cook turned out great. The warming rack will be a great asset. It comes with a drip pan too. The Hover grill at 18” dia. works well with the warming rack and the main level cooking grid. All in all there’s nothing like the 26” for versatility with a little imagination.

Just before foiling

Gary you need to stop posting these cool pics. I used to be so happy with my newish, bone stock 26.75'er. Now I look at it and think to myself, "It could be so much better...."

Thanks, I must admit I am pretty proud of it. When deciding my next purchase I was looking at ceramic but after really looking at the 26, seeing the added depth of the kettle I just felt more could be accomplished with it. In all honesty Tony it's likely I would not use the Hover Grill and the BGE rack together often but it is nice to have that option. The full sized D/O underneath with room to spare was great too. Actually another BGE rack would be a great idea. It could be one the same size or a smaller size.

I have not used my WSM since I did the Nomex and calibrated the bottom draft controls. This kettle can pretty much do it all.
I wish Weber would re-market this model giving it a stronger base and opening up other smoking options.

Gary,

Don't be so shy and subtle about your 26.75 kettle. You need to put up more posts, boast more about your mods, and put more pics on TVWBB.

Just kidding (of course) Gary. Good looking cooks - and THANKS for sharing that about the XL BGE warming rack. On the hunt for one right NOW.

Hey... the members "show off" their cooks in the Picture Post so I like to promote the 26. Too bad the manufacturer would not do more for this big boy

When you look at the BGE warming rack although pricey it is very well made. The drip pan is a real nice touch too and could allow for some indirect heat. There is a centre bar in the middle at the bottom. I took it out with no adverse effect. Looking at the way it is made I may remove one of the cross bars just for easier access underneath. The way its welded I don't think it will loose its shape.
