Many of you may have heard of the extensive flooding here in Colorado. Damage was severe here in Loveland, and the rain has not stopped. This link takes you to a slide show that shows but a small portion of the damage.

But we've been very fortunate in our section of town, and one never knows when the power might go out. So it was time to lower the freezer inventory, configure for wet wx opns (as Mr. Pannell might say), and make some tri-tip.
Our patio, thankfully undamaged.

Tri-tip defrosted and rubbed in olive oil and Susie Q.

On the gasser, since it's better sheltered from the wind and rain. I used some mesquite chunks in an aluminum pan in an attempt to maintain my feeble smoking cred.

Time to pull it off.

Resting.

Sliced.

Plated, with fresh frozen green beans, homemade Mexican rice, and sautéed mushrooms.

It was nice to celebrate our relative good fortune without having to leave the house. Travel is difficult, as you might imagine.
