Cody's Corner of Random Rehabbing & Shenanigans

If you lived near me I could have traded you wood slats and handles for fixing all the frames I've had to toss due to rust.
If I ever made it south of the border again that would be a trade I’d make!

I haven’t seen many of the 1/x000 frames rotted out there. Surface rust yes, but not like the b/c’s where it’s nearly nonexistent.

You are extremely lucky that both of those climates seem to be kind to these old grills. They don't call the Midwest the rust belt for nothing.
I consider myself lucky. You know if I had to send you the top left portion of a frame that included the left side member it probably wouldn't be that bad to ship that is if that is the only bad part on the frame.

Yeah the way the old frames break down, they would probably be fairly reasonable to ship. Start collecting them all Josh! 🤣

I’m still a believer that that indent in the crossmember (as well as seeming a little heavier gauge), play a factor in the older ones being less susceptible to rust.

I have several more grills than I need but im not ready to part out complete grills that are in really good condition at least at this point. After I finish restoring all my personal forever grills I'll have to figure out what to do with the rest of them. I'm thinking about restoring the rest of them for selective donation and maybe I'll have some good parts to give away eventually. I'm not really interested in selling anything.

I still think you should find non-profits that do silent auctions…

I say Josh and Cody, keep on going collecting the good frames as much as you can. Even the Silvers you can build a super cool wood handle.
