Hello all just starting out and picking up needed Items.
Just found on cl what sounds to be a real old timer in very good cond... A sj with wood handle three vents on bottom and small round metal legs that are attached with wing nuts on inside of the bowl.
Also chimmney starter, grill brush and bag of charcoal

Also a 1996 performer ss that is in the process of restaration as of now..

the sj is a great old timer. i'm still hoping to find one as its one of the first webers i bought. they are prone to rusting were the legs go into the body so be carefull.

the old one i had developed bad rust there. so i repaired it by using wide ss washers on each side. it lasted well over another 10 years after i gave it to my dad to use. then while moving someone threw it away. i was really upset about that.

Nice find, Jay. I have 2 (1 needs resto) and I think the 3 vents give a more even fire than the single bottom vent. Of course, the obvious tradeoff is the lack of a built-in ash pan.

I don't know when this style was discontinued but if there's no single letter stamped into the lid vent it's a pre-1980 model.
