Hello All,
I was off today and decided to tackle some much needed grill maintenance. My old friend has served me well but I have not been returning the favor. Consequently my OTG cleaning sweepers had rusted out. I received the new part today and set out to replace them and do some long overdue cleaning. I also treated myself to a new set of cast iron grill grates so naturally I had to give them a try right away. The Winn Dixie is running a special on pork butt today ($1.49/lb) so chore two was to stock up on those. I already cut one of those up for Italian sausage (tomorrow's chore) and I'm sure at least one will be the star of a future post. I also picked up some skirt steak on sale. While I was at the W/D I noticed they had chuck eyes reduced for quick sale. Now I recall seeing many great cooks featuring chuck eyes on my favorite BBQ forum but I have not yet tried them so I decided to Christen the new grates with them! Below are pictures of my day of chores and cooking:

We absolutely loved the chuck eyes. They were extremely flavorful and very tender. I definitely I prefer them to sirloin (which I love for flavor). I can't believe I have never cooked these before. It won't be the last time! I like my new grates but I can see I will have a bit of a learning curve to deal with. Now I will have to gear up and channel my inner Tony R and try some Carne Asada with the skirt steak I scored today - y'all channel good thoughts my way... Thanks for looking.
Regards,
John
