I put a grommet on my newer WSM 18 a couple years ago. I remember it was a real Pain!
I was assembling my WSM 22 in my 95’ garage and was sweating and frustrated after 20 long minutes. I watched your YT video and installed it in 15 seconds.
Anyway, thanks and you might want to make that video a “STICKY.”
 
I just installed mine yesterday (Putting it together).

Went in from the inside and didnt have an issue. Thanks for letting me know there is a video out there that Chris did, if I meet anyone else with issues I will direct them to it.
 
I bought a 18 and the groment had melted to guy covered the area with screw and washers. I may install groment in it again.
