Cherry Wood

I am visiting in Mi and went out in the orchard to get some cherry wood to bring home. I cut it up and put into grocery bag to bring back on airplane and when walking with my brother by the place I got it he said it is a peach orchard. Trees look just like the cherry to me. I looked and did not see any cherry branches down.  Since I a ready have cut and not sure if airport is going to let me bring on plane anyway I guess will just stick with the peach. Do you thing flavor will be about the same?

It's really good stuff. A really nice local farmer lets me pick up storm damage every summer from his orchard we pick from. I'd use it by itself for ribs or chicken, and mix with hickory and/or oak for pork shoulder or brisket.

Thanks for reply. I always wanted to bring some cherry back but peach will do. Not sure how trips back to Mi have left. Parents getting on in age and Dad not doing so great.

Brian, I hear ya.

While my parents are still in relatively good health, they just left to go back home yesterday after being here for my son's HS graduation. Time flies by, and NONE of us are getting any younger. It was kind of funny...they were talking about which one should have their gall bladder op first.

Yep.

Brian,

The airport security shouldn't give you any trouble with the wood. Recently I put several 4" diameter Sassafrass branches in my carry on luggage when I flew back from North Carolina.
I cut up the branches in sections that were short enough that they couldn't be mistaken for a club!
