Check your brushes

I quit using anything except wadded up foil. Works great and no chance of a small wire sticking to grate.

Wow, can you imagine that happening to you or a family member, or guest. Just awful

I have been thinking that the Scotch Brite products and their clones are looking better all the time.

Weber brushes are indeed thicker, and I've had zero issues with bristles left on the grate. Doesn't hurt to inspect the grates and replace the brushes ever so often, though.

Wow, never even thought about this. I have some cheap one I have been using for more than four years... I wonder if you can just use one of those green and yellow scotch dish washing pads instead.

Thanks for the awareness post!! I stick all my grill grates in dishwasher and anything I can't fit I power wash.Brillo pads are horrible to use fibers get stuck everywhere. Safety 1st.

Tonight as I was getting the grill warmed up and ready to cook, I remembered that I had left my Weber brass brush at my sons house.
I wanted to clean the GrillGrates, so I picked up a double sided brush that I had from a big box store. I used the nylon abrasive side
first, and then flipped it over to the brass side and continued, and the brass wires started to drop off the brush and stayed on the grates.
First time that this has happened to me in my time using Weber grills, which goes back to 1958. So glad that I was watching after reading
this post recently. I guess the lesson that I learned here is to only use a high quality brush like the Weber, and be watchful as you use it.
Best of all the burgers turned out fine after all.
