Check it out

That thing looks like it is a model from ten or so years ago?
I am not familiar with those grills though. If it is that old, why would it not have been used by now.

I have seen this every once in a while. Someone buys one, forgets and it sits, then maybe they pass on and a family member obtains it and thinks "yes a gold mine". So they pop up for sale like this at crazy high prices. Though I guess in light of the Chinese stuff being turned out at stupid high prices and people actually paying them maybe not so crazy. This is still a far better grill than anything they make now

So it is 10-15 years old and never been used. Sheesh. Kind of like finding a 1965 Corvette with 65 miles on it in a barn.

Roughly 2000 to 2006.

Definitely NOT 2000. I think this version was introduced about 2005 or so because I got my earlier version at a closeout when the new (this version) was being introduced. IIRC the earlier version ran from late 90's to about 2005

If this were the Platinum version with a stainless frame and stainless cabinet pieces he would really have something spectacular . As it is it is still pretty amazing even if not worth $1500. I still like this version, and if another Platinum crosses my path I will really have to work at resisting. As to the current version, I don’t want to see another!

So, a barn find of the earlier model is a pretty cool thing.

Yep, I was off. I was thinknig that Summits went from 400/600 to Gold/Silver the same time Genny's did. I was wrong.

I saw a stainless steel 6 burner version in our area not long ago for $75. Unfortunately I did not realize what it was until it was already gone....
