Charcoal issue

I have a 22.5 wsm and can’t get lump charcoal to run for 16+ hrs. I refuse to use briquettes with chemicals. I can dump 16lbs of fogo super premium into the ring and it’ll last at most 10 hrs. I’m still waiting on my aftermarket door to arrive. My door leaks a decent amount. Please help, thanks

I am not a lump user and I've read very little detail about its characteristics but what I have read indicates that--compared to briquettes--it burns hotter and lasts for a shorter duration. If that is true, then I wonder if there is no other option than to replenish lump fuel periodically throughout a long cook.

I use lump, ( cheap RO) but cook at higher temps so I can get food done in a 10 hr frame.
I would suggest a more denser lump like jealous devil or similar.
One thing, is the big boy WSM is a fuel hog. So tighten it up.

Invest in gaskets. That will help things immensely. The thing about the WSM is that it isn't insulated, like the Summit, so heat escapes fast.
