Charcoal grate mod..

Hello,

I have a 18.5 and was planning on doing a mod on the charcoal grate to create my version of a kick ash basket. I was going to get the smaller size charcoal grate, move it to create the #....I then planned on getting 2 stainless steel hose clamps to loop through the grates and up through the ring. This way I can pick up the ring, shake it in a garbage bag....dump the ash....and add the grate back to the cooker with the good charcoal that is left to be used again.

Does anyone have a better way to clamp the 2 grates with the charcoal ring, besides getting 2 ss hose clamps?

I use rebar tie wire. Good stuff, that.

I'll second that. Tie wire in the garage is the same as duct tape, as in anyone should have it..

i just used copper wire from a piece of romex...still holding strong.
