Cedar-Planked Salmon with Hoisin-Mustard Glaze

First time ever cooking fish. I don't like it. But...I love my mother, and she adores the stuff. So, I figured I'd give it a try. :-) She nearly died when I set this down in front of her. She was a very happy woman. Says it's the best salmon she's ever had, bar none. Did up some asparagus with EVO and kosher salt, along with some cherry tomatoes.

Mister McCall, moms don't lie!
If she "Says it's the best salmon she's ever had" ... it's the best salmon she's ever had!
And it appears your photography does not lie either.
Nice Son

Thank you for the compliments gentlemen.

See Marc, it's hard for me to tell if it's good or not, because I despise the stuff so much, it's impossible for me to ever taste it and tell if it tastes the way it should. The best I can do is attempt to execute the recipe as it's written, and hope that it does the trick. LOL I look at fish and go "Mmmm...god that looks good." But when I taste it, I make a wretched face and nearly yack. LOL It's hard to excel at preparing something when you can't taste it and know where you're at with it.

Hyden, you can cook anything and it will always be perfect. It looks like when you cook the salmon every Sunday. Really nice fish dish.

Look really good never tryed ceder planks for fish..but seemst to do the job.

But does the fish get any smooke flawor from that plank?

Oh yeah. Fish gets plenty of smoke. You soak the plank for an hour or so in cold water. Fire up the grill to 500-550, and put the plank right over the fire. That plank will steam, then eventually smoke as the plank dries out. Just have to make sure the plank doesn't actually catch fire. LOL

Yea i have read about it but i think the smoke flavor will come better with the fish on the grates(indirect ofc) and chunks of wood at the coals.

Altho the steam effect might do wonders with the fish.

Well i just need to try all this "ceder planks here ceder planks there" they are sold for a purpose
