I built the garage 30 years ago, and let it get to far before I finally addressed it. Treated lumber sistered on SPF. The little buggers love the pine but hate the treated. Trim is a man made product which is hard to find at that thickness 5/8" but I was lucky to have a few lengths stashed.
I still have to do a final coat of paint before I get a new garage door installed.

How did you know for sure they were Carpenter Ants? Did they have flannel shirts, large suspenders holding up their jeans and tool belts? Or were they singing "Close to You"?
