Can old smoked cheese kill you?

An amusing question here. I smoked some sharp cheddar today, and while reorganizing my basement frig, I rediscovered a couple blocks of Monterey Jack cheese way in the back that I had smoked on the WSM . . . in 2007.

They are vacuum sealed and look perfect. I don't really need to keep them, but . . . has anyone else done this? Can 7 year old cheese be safe?

Any advice appreciated.

just try a little bit - see how it tastes and if you feel sick :)

j/k, I don't have a clue.

If a big chunk gets lodged in your windpipe it could do you in , but I think if it smells ok and tastes normal it won't hurt you. Like Clint sez...just try a little. :D

Get "Mikey" to try it & see if he likes it. Smoked;vac packed(still a good seal?) and refrigerated... I'd probably try it. That's me but I don't always make the wisest decisions!
