Cajun door upgrade help

Geeze Scott - defensive much?

Yeah, I drilled the snot out of my WSM for various nuts & bolts. Never said those holes weren't immune to future issues. How many other guys do the same? Probably very few other than those who add probe holes/slots. if you're good with using grommet holes - great. During my research, I thought the slot would make more sense in my application. Only I don't come here and say my way is easier, better visually, and more elegant while the other way is sloppy and highly recommend against anything other than what I did.

I think I said both routes do the trick, and it's a preference thing. And I also mentioned there are slight functionality issues to be aware of, but they both do the job. I think I'm entitled to my opinion on which is a more elegant outcome, but I clearly said functionally they both work and they do. Your claim that a slot provides better protection than a painted and doubley-sealed hole was unfounded, and remains so. Frankly, what route folks ultimate take is fine but the objective of this section is to state one's own opinion to new comers questions and let the OP decide what works best for them. Not, "strongly disagreeing" with others opinions and claiming they are wrong? What's with that?? Just post your preference, and quit focusing on disputing other points of view. Thanks.

PS - If you're not done with this, let's be courteous to the others and take it to PM.

So drilling, slotting.... and after several years of just under the lid..... Lets' all play nice together, no?

Good information, Roger. The stock latch can break during the transfer process. It can also break when doing the CB door fitting.

If using the stock latch, once the transfer has gone well, be very careful when checking the CB door for fit. Suggest not latching it until the final fit is perfect.
Also, if using the stock latch, keep track of the order in which the latch parts are removed.

Like I said, I went ahead and ordered the door and it came the other day. I have to say I am very pleased that I did bite the bullet and go for it. If fits a ton better and it enhances the look tremendously. The look alone makes it worth it to me.

Two big thumbs up. Now pay it forward, as you'll see the same question from a new guy in short order. It's one of those things that you have to see it in action, to understand the value.

I bought my CB door when they first came out but back then it was only $20.00 plus shipping. I still think its worth it. I cant believe Weber can build such a great cooker and then throw that cheap door on it. Just my opinion-yours may differ.
