Cajun Bandit Stacker or WSM?

Hey guys, getting back into serious smoking. Been using my performer for all tasks for the past five years with great results, though have a hard time keeping it below 300 degrees. Was thinking about getting a 22.5 WSM, but lately been trying to research the Cajun Bandit Stacker.

My questions are:

1) Is the temp control on the Stacker about the same, better or worse than the WSM?

2) Is it worth spending the extra money on a WSM or go with the stacker?

Thanks,

The key to good temperature control is air control. If you're having a hard time now, adding the stacker will not change that.

I don't think you get the fine control over the airflow with the Performer. The WSM is much more adjustable IMHO, because you have three independent vents. I have a WSM and a Performer, because they do different jobs.

Yeah, used to have an 18.5 about five years ago, but sold it to get a 22.5. Never got around to getting that 22.5 though. I feel the time is right now. I might browse craigslist for a few months before pulling the trigger, but I will have one soon.

I'm pretty, much in the same boat. I need more capacity. Playing around with the 22.5 kettle for low temp cooks is kind of a pain. Constant monitoring.

Another alternative is to find an older 22-1/2 Bar-B-Kettle with the three vents on the bottom. Clean up is not as convenient as Performer style, but control is just like a WSM.
