It’s smaller than it looks. I was thinking about putting in a SS, but then it dawned on me that maybe it’s by design to breakWow that looks like an awfully big screw to just break off like that
Thanks Dan, unfortunately I didn’t find a part number for the screwno idea, but I'm pretty good at google. here are the first and second gen schematics.

They're usually pretty good, I'm happy most of the time when I get off the phone. If you're really lucky, what you need is in that part #. Let us know what happens! Thanks Steve, I see myself on the phone with Weber tomorrow. Oh Boy
Good question, not sure why it broke. There wasn't any dust packed in, it was just pellets. Had I thought more carefully, I would have been more careful dumping pellets. I suspect there was something in the pellets that bound the auger. So perhaps like the shear pin on your snow blower auger. But, then the other question: Why did it break?
Thanks Lew, I was hoping you would see this post. The shaft on the motor is threaded to accept the pin. I'll call Weber today, but am going to look into this cotter pin deal. Could be just the ticket. Sounds like I need to take the motor and auger with me to the Hardware store to make sure I have a good fit. Good times.....LOLSeveral people replaced that bolt with a cotter pin. It’s supposed to break if the auger binds up. A buildup of pellet dust at the motor end of the auger is usually the problem
