Brinkmann water pan question

Hi,

I bought a Brinkmann water pan to replace the Weber water pan on my 18.5 WSM. The fit is much better. I can add fuel, wood and stir the coals much easier now.

This question is for people who are already using the Brinkmann water pan.

Has yours developed (for lack of a better description) little bumps on the outside of the pan?

These bumps don't seem to be related to rust. They just kind of appeared after a few uses.

Thanks

I've mostly used my wrapped in foil, top & bottom, but the last few times I've just foiled the inside. After 3 cooks with the bottom exposed, I haven't noticed anything irregular, just discoloration I'd expect. It could be that the finish used on the Brinkmann pan isn't as hardy as the porcelain enamel that Weber uses and it's starting to break down on yours. If that's the case, I wouldn't worry about it until it burns/rusts through, then I'd just buy a new one.
