For what its worth, i am a big fan of brining. If its done right, its helps. I have the same ideas toward injecting, and the use of phosphates. You can over do anything.
 
Used half the sugar and salt and half the time and no salt in the rub. Much better. Thanks everyone for all the help/comments.
