New guy here, hope I can post these pics right, hope they aren't too big? I picked up a nice next-to-new Performer on CL a few weeks ago, it hadn't seen any grease so on the butts go. I usually cook them on the kettle, the WSM is for larger cooks.

Prepping with a piece of apple holding the Kingsford, drip pan underneath:

Rubbed the Sam's butts with the usual..

Rubbed for a half hour or so:

A couple of hours or so into the cook, Illinois was still beating OSU at the time:

Was tough to hold temp.. pic is 275 but ran 3-350 for most of the cook maybe cause the kettle is new..:

Marley guarding during a check:

Took them off after 7 or so hours, blade felt right, sat for 1/2 hour:

Served it up with some hash browns and canned (market ain't open yet) corn and beans seasoned with the rub, vinegar/sweet baby ray's concoction on the side:

Marley again, the fierce one she is..

Got the performer for $125 I had been looking for one to fit that spot and get the kettle off the deck. Bought it from a great dude, a Marine, in fact he couldn't have the grill in the apartment complex.

I had the the hose from a side burner setup I had before I got this one. Sure is handy..

I scored one just like it this winter for $80.Mine was born in 05 and reborn 2010.I will also be setting my propane up the same way.

Nice looking grub! Nice CL Score!!

Welcome to the board. Good to see another Richmonder. Do you ever use lump? I'd love to give it a go but can only find Cowboy around here and that doesn't get very good reviews those in the know on this site. You able to find any other brands around town?

Hi Don- every once in a while I'll grab some Royal Oak at Walmart I just use it for quick direct type cooking.

I guess there is better stuff out there than Kingsford but it's all I've ever used. I did grab a twin pack of the Competition today at Costco with the coupon, I've never used it.

Great looking Q? The real question, however, is whether Marley was GUARDING or STALKING!!! I hope he got a snack when all was said and done.

When I'm doing low and slow on my kettle, I do a mini minion method start with only about 8 coals of lit to start. Once the temps reach about 200 degrees, I shut the one touch system almost all the way. This usually keeps me in the 225-250 range for 6 hours or so.
