Paul, Frank hit the nail on the head! That is an auto drip pan, that my good wife picked up at Walmart. I believe it was in the neighborhood of $12.00. Frankly, I got the tip on here (maybe from Chris). It's a good place to place the lid when working on the WSM. The grease around the lid won't stain the patio and if you put it in a bare yard it picks up grass clippings, etc - not good. It also wipes clean when it gets soiled (and it WILL get soiled). The other day, I noticed tidy little footprints on the pan. It appears that a local coon has been giving my WSM the eye.
