Today i went out and bought these. https://newyork.craigslist.org/lgi/grd/6149894969.html. (A genesis silver b and a 1000, i think)( I think the Genesis Silver B is a 2005 due to the Enclosed Cabinet, I think the Genesis 1000 is a 1998)
Im going to spend a month or so cleaning them up, but overall they arent in horrible shape. They both need burners, some paint and a MAJOR cleaning. But, other then that it should be a pretty easy project.

My question. Im going to restore both. But, i really only need one. Which one would you restore and sell and which one would you restore and keep?

Sadly it looks like someone did a FUBAR job on that 1000. But that would be the one I would hold on to. I am partial to the deeper firebox design

A couple of questions:

I just checked the Series No. on Webers site at this site https://www.weber.com/US/en/help/manuals/#serial-number of my GREEN weber grill. This is what it told me "Your grill: 211701 Genesis 1000 LX LP Blk (USA)". Does the Blk mean my Green grill is supposed to be Black and it was repainted?

The bottom tray on the Green grill has been replaced by a previous owner. I've look a little online but can't find it, does weber or anyone sell replacements for that?

I have a 1000 LX I bought new in 1999 (now in a 2000 frame) Out of my seven Weber's if I could only keep one that would be the one I would keep, great grill.

There we go, that decides it. I'm going to do a Thorough restoration of both, but the 1000 LX, will get 'i'm keeping it to use' restoration (which means that bottom shelf most likely won't change) and the Silver B will get a 'full restoration for sale' so every detail will be gone over.

Wow Rich, that sounds like a great thread to start. I would stick with my Performer if I could only keep one of them. We don't have the fire bans down here though.

Ha, i'm a putz. Stopped at ace hardware after work. Picked up burners and ignitors. Put them in, dragged the extra propane tank down to the grill.

And realized, neither one has a gas line or regulator. Back to ace, nope, home depot, nope. Looks like im going to have to order them online.

Nope. I'd wager that your grill isn't model # 211701. Short version is that Weber doesn't list exact model# schematics for every single model # of grill that they produced. They'll list Black and also any "speciality/niche/limited edition" models that have a number of other different parts. Then, in the actual schematic listing, they'll list all the different lid colors with corresponding part #s.

So far, replacement parts ive ordered for these two grills

Genesis 1000:
Burners, regulator and fuel line, ignitor, drip tray rails, foil drip tray liners, warming basket, warming grate and thermometer

Genesis Silver b:
Burners, manifold, flavorizer bars, grates, warming basket, warming grate, thermometer, cabinet base

I think thats everything.

The grates and warming racks i got really cheap on craigslist new. I can just not pick those up. But, everything else is already on the way.

Have you already received shipping notifications on all the parts? Including the manifold?

I havent been smart about ordering parts. I did a quick inventory and have just been ordering replacement parts immediately for missing or damaged parts instead of thinking about sourcing or repairing them. Thats a big part of why my expenses have been so high and something i can learn from for the next removation.

So, hard to explain without pictures and im at my daughters soccer game right now, so i cant take pictures. So in all the diagrams i can find online of the Silver b manifold to gas line connections. There is a little brass adapter type of thing attached between the manifold and gas lines. My manifold is missing that and i couldnt find the part available on its own.
