Boston Butt prices at 2-year low?

Was at the local warehouse store (BJs) yesterday and noticed a big pile of butts priced at $1.49/lb. First, I kicked myself for buying 2 8-pounders for $1.99/lb. a few weeks back. Second, I grabbed two 9 pounders to stash with the 8-pounders in the freezer for later consumption. Third, I asked my wife to grab two more this morning (to set aside for our scout pack's Spring campout.

So, if you're in the Philly area and have a BJs membership, go get some before I buy 'em out. I'm not sure if this is a local phenomenon or what. Other pork cuts weren't any cheaper than usual ($2.79/lb. for whole loins, 2.99/lb. for spares and $3.49/lb. for baby backs), so maybe they just got a really good bulk deal on butts.

It's nice to have a freezer. This is one of the best ways to save money - getting something you would normally get and getting it at a good deal. The key is having the ability to store it. This is similar to the charcoal sales. When the sales are on, buy a good amount. It's not like you're not going to use it sooner or later. Good shopping!
