Boston Butt Cook Time

Hello All,
I am cooking a single butt at approx. 7 lbs (trim weight) Using minion method on an 18.5" WSM.

Anyone have a approx time for how long this should take?

I have seen methods and time on 2 butts and am also wondering if one butt takes as long as two.

It will always depend on actual cooking temperature.

One butt takes the same time as two - which depends on the above.
 
My experience makes me agree. 1 or 2 or more does not seem to make much difference for the cook time. It greater the total mass of meat the slower the dome thermometer will be to come to cooking temp. Also remember that every butt cooks different even if they weight the same.

Thaks Mike......Wife reports temp dropped to 205 after 10hrs so not too bad I think.....will check temp of meat when i get home and maybe stir coals
 
Have her gently tap the legs of the WSM several times and that might get some ash off the charcoal. Ash off - temp rises.
