BBQ Sauce question....

I have 5 bottles of bbq sauce and most are half full. Can I just mix together or do I need to mix all together and simmer to get a Better taste.....thanks in advance.

One of the sauces that I used for a while in competition was a concoction of 3 different sauces added together. No heat needed.

However, that said, I have been playing around with putting various sauces in the smoker to pick up some smoke flavor with very good luck. For instance, a sauce that I wasn't really wild about completely changed after an hour or so in the cooker and is now quite good.

Yes. Now having said that, mix small batches (like a teasp) together and taste it before doing the whole thing. Like it? Do the rest. Then the same thing next addition. At least the whole batch won,t get tossed if it's not to your liking.

Last time I was in that position, my (then 19 year old) son volunteered to mix up a sauce, and I told him to have a blast. It turned out GREAT! Unfortunately, he's not one to write anything down, so we'll never re-create it. Anyway, he didn't simmer, just mixed it all together.

5 half bottles of sauce at my house would mean I had 5 bottles of sauce I really didn't like in the first place so mixing them would be my last attempt at trying to get something I liked before tossing them out. No need to simmer.

Bob, I like them all......its because my wife goes to Memphis on business all the time she always brings new bbq sauces and rubs. I get anxious every time I bbq that I want to try a new bottle. But I should try to finish before opening a new one.😃😃😃.

Thanks Dale.. I'm going to measure and write down what I'm doing in case I get a killer sauce out of it.

I keep wanting to try #5 Sauce, but never seem to run out of bottles in my pantry. You can't go wrong mixing in a little Sriracha and meat juices (from resting/slicing) along with whatever sauce(s) you have. Maybe even some rub or vinegar if needed, and simmer if it needs reduced.

Make sure if you do that that you don't keep it too long (in the fridge or otherwise).
