Just thougth I would drop a note as I am in process of a BBQ Marathon. Started yesterday (Sat.) morning at 11:00 a.m. with 2 racks of loin backs. Pulled them off at 4:00 p.m., foiled and at 5:00 p.m. the family went at them like we were caveman. There was sauce and bones a flyin! Dumped the remainder of the coals in my Smokey Joe and refilled the charcoal ring full in preperation of my first pork butt cook. Started the chimney at about 7:30 p.m (Sat) and had 2 butts on at 8:00 p.m. Checked the temp at 9:00 p.m. 220 degrees, looked good to me so I went to bed. Set my alarm for 3:00 a.m. I was kind of worried about the temp as the was my first all nighter with the ECB. 220 degrees at 3:00 a.m. and plenty of fuel so back to bed. Back up at 6:00 a.m. and the ECB is still chugging along at 220! Looks like I am going to have to add more charcoal here pretty soon, probably at the 12 hour mark, 8:00 a.m. (Sun) Got pics of the ribs and will take some of the butts when I turn them at 8:00 a.m. Man, this sweatshirt I am wearing sure is smelling good after 2 days of smoking.

Well it is Monday morning and I had a great BBQ weekend. Whole thing started with me and a coworker talking about bringing some meat in for a potluck, me pulled pork, him a brisket. Well one of my other coworkers asked me if I would be interested in selling him some ribs. I have only smoked on four occasions, on an ECB nonetheless, and I brought in the smallest of samples of a brisket in one day that he got a taste of. Wow! What a compliment. How do you say no. I told him I would sell him one of the 3 loin back racks from Sam’s. After getting meat on Friday night and originally planning to cook everything beginning Saturday night, I decided to cook 2 racks of ribs for dinner on Saturday night and then pork butts beginning Sat. night, and coworkers ribs on Sun. morning/afternoon. Everything went really good. Can't wait to hear what the one coworker thought of his ribs and how my pork butt stands up to my other coworker’s brisket today at work. Got the pulled pork warming up in a crock-pot sitting next to me (at work now). Starting to get hungry already! Here are some pics.

Couple of other quick notes - Bought a big bag of the Jack Daniels pellets for both smokes. Guerilla marketing does work - Thanks for the original samples Candy! Rubbed both the ribs and the butts with some St. Louis style rub from Sam's. Mixed half and half with a Mesquite rub that has a lot of heat (from Sam's as well) for the butts. Had one of the butts for pulled pork for dinner last night. Great tasting. Bark on the outside had a great flavor with a little zing to it. Smoke ring was great as well. Served with KC Masterpiece/ honey sauce mix. Our family doesn't enjoy the vinegar sauces much.

Jay, I am jealous of you smoking like that!! Ribs for dinner and then thorwing on butts for the next day!! AHHH, reminds me of summertime cooks. 6 degrees today in Cleveland!

Well it is 8:15 a.m. here in Colorado and we are already eating Barbeque. My coworker brought his brisket and between the brisket and the pulled pork warming up in crok-pots everyone one was drooling. Someone brought rolls and another potato salad and cole slaw. Normal holiday treats and sweets.

I love the smell (and taste) of BBQ in the morning!
