Baked Beans

I'm on the Northern East coast, i have a favorite BBQ joint that I drive 3 hours to at least once a year. He's a replanted Carolinian (Bears BBQ, Conn.) He has the best baked beans I have ever had. No idea how he makes them. Just the right heat and I detect a touch of cumin.
I'm looking for a baked bean recipe. Not sure to post here or side dishes.

Another favorite years ago was the Virginia BBQ in Rocky Mount Virginia. I think they were drippin beans.

Al, my favorite is a riff on Alton Brown's Once & Future Beans. Instead of braising in a partially covered Dutch oven, I add an extra quart of stock and smoke them. If you're careful, you can position them under something to catch the drippings....

Yes, future Baked Bean recipes should go in the "Side Dish" thread.

Al, did you check out any of the threads I bumped up with baked bean recipes?

My favorite process is to brown a few rib trimmings with anomie onion and garlic. Then I add some Bushes baked beans to the pot and add the same seasoning that I use on ribs. I cook them under the ribs I am smoking for the last couple of hours to catch some drippings. The combination of rib drippings and smoke has always gotten grand reviews.
