Anyone here ever ran Yokohama tires on their car? Dollar for dollar, do they ride as good as Goodyear or Goodrich tires? Our tire size is 225/60R16.
Had them on a Camry I had. Bought them new at Discount Tire (a company I highly recommend BTW). They ride very smoothly and quietly. BUT they get noisy pretty fast. By about 12k to 15k they began to get noisy. They still performed perfectly though. But if quiet is important I would say go Michelin. On another car I got REALLY good performance with General Tires Altimax (they were directional tread and I forget the series they were) but I got close to 100k miles on them before replacing them. At over 75k miles on them they pulled my little Saturn SL2 through one of the worst blizzards in Chicago area history (early Feb 2011) we got in excess of 25". I did not get all the way home from OHare but I at least got to safe haven at my sister's house in Arlington Hts.Anyone here ever ran Yokohama tires on their car? I forgot, but my two daughters are running General Altimax and are getting good wear and performance from them, especially since they got them on sale for a really reasonable price.Had them on a Camry I had. Sorry Rusty, I only had experience with the Avid Touring and know nothing about this newer Tourante model. Here is what the tire the dealer is recommending...

There are some negative reviews about road noise and tread separation that caught my eye.
Larry, were the General Altimax tires you had the RT43 model? Checked today on my daughter’s car and that is what she has and likes them.Same here only with the Avid models. IIRC they were still on that Camry when I sold it

I have General Altimax RT43 on my Daughters Corolla and really like them. They get rave reviews across the net as a great all season tire. They are much quieter than the BF Goodrich G-Force tires that was on the car and after almost 30k miles look like they are hardly worn.Larry, were the General Altimax tires you had the RT43 model? Our new RAV4 came with Dunlop tires. So this is my first experience with that brand. We'll have to see how they do but so far, they're quiet, smooth and quite stable.
I'm late to the party here. But for future reference, Tire Rack tests a boatload of tires every year and there's tens of thousands of comments on their site. Their database is amazing. I find it invaluable when looking for new tires. I used to look at the skidpad g numbers and braking distance, but now I focus on dBs and smooth ride characteristics. I've used their site for research and purchased from there too.
