Apple wood cuttings

For those of you in the STL/S. IL area, I noticed Eckert's Orchards in Belleville just pruned their apple trees and there are HUGE piles of branches laying out for the taking in the orchard area. I'm going to grab a bunch of it tomorrow. Free wood can't be beat.

It is a great time of year for free wood. I have 5 orchards within 10 miles of my house.Peach and apple. They let me go out and get all the trimmings I want. Most in the 2"- 4" diam.

Is now when they trim even in the north (Michigan). Free wood is the best wood - no doubt about that.

For a nice treat, use some of those green apple wood trimmings on a cook. Don't be scared none, they are quite nice. I use green apple wood often, and it's very nice. Just don't use too much, works very well on chicken, steaks and burgers.
