I have just trimed som small limbs off of my red maple about 1" in diameter and cutting them in to 1 to 2" pieces and letting them dry for smoking. My question is I also have to trim some limbs off my fig tree. Has am one ever used fig wood and would it be a good wood for smoking.

I have not used fig, butt I'd be happy to try it.
Google tells me: Fig- Slighty sweet, woodsy flavor. Good for smoking Poultry- Game Birds- Pork

We have several fig trees, so I thought I would give it a try. Did not like fig at all. Very acrid. I would not recommend it. I just use dead fig wood for kindling in the wood stove.

Bryan, did you let the wood season? I got some hickory last year and used some before it was fully dry. Yuck! I let it dry another couple months and it was better than anything I've bought!
