All this talk of garage springs and such... Doesn't anyone grill/bbq/smoke/cook anymore?

Just heard last night that California is the 5th largest economy in.the.world. I'm proud of my native state. Born here, gonna die here.

Funny to me how people come south from the northern climes and bundle up when the temp drops into the 60s. Funnier still is the time I went to Denver in late January with only my southern CA clothes (jeans and T-shirt) and went outside to get a newspaper in flip-flops. Hang loose, Dude!

Trust me, you don’t. We can sometimes get to -40 C which actually translates to -40 F. That’s not including mother nature’s favourite kick in the butt…. Wind chill.
Now that's cold! It regularly gets down to 0 or a little under here in the winter but -40? Wow!

I've been to San Diego in the winter and have seen the natives bundle up when I considered it to be t-shirt weather.

I went to Ontario Canada on a work trip in November. I brought Sorel winter boots, gloves, hooded jacket, long underwear, ski goggles.

A Co worker, and Cali native brought a sport jacket. Our customer, the Canadian forces issued him full winter gear with muk luk boots so he wouldn't freeze his ashes off

I had sheet metal screws installed in the soles of my boots so I wouldn't slip and fall.

Not everyone from Cali can't handle the cold

I deplaned in YYZ many years ago. In January. I had cotton khakis on and loafers with no socks. The snow I stepped in and hit the bare skin on my foot reminded me I wasn’t built for cold, anymore. And I had a shell jacket on. Clearly I failed to check the weather in advance. Never again. I just avoid cold climes and snow. Mexico this winter sounds lovely. I better get a crackin on making those March plans. The tequila is calling. I can hear it now.

I'm sure you're right about that. The main reason why winters here seem to get worse every year is because I get older every year! It's not the snow that gets to you, I still look forward to that, it's the brutal cold.

Don't misunderstand! You guys from up north, you folks know what cold is really all about. Slipping on frozen ice, blizzards, snow plows, frozen door locks on the car, slippin' and slidin' on the roadway, black ice, clearing snow off the driveway so you can get to work, you name it. When it gets in the 40s here and we're talkin' cold snap! Ha! I just have to remind the out of state folks about the real cold...after what you've lived through, this is nuthin'.

Live in Northern California once, but leave before it makes you soft

It's a great state and welcomes all, but when you leave, take someone with you (seriously joking about the last part of that!)

I love the diversity in CA. I wish people were better drivers and had more patience is all. I think it's funny we bought the place from Mexico...best purchase ever...
