Alder Planked Salmon

I recently got my hands on a pack of golden alder grilling planks, and decided to do my first-ever plank cook tonight. Here's them pics...

I used a regular salmon filet from Costco, and seasoned it with salt, pepper, mustard seed, rosemary, thyme, sage, garlic, and bay leaf...

Action shots on the gas grill...

Ready to eat!

That filet looks really nice, Jerome. My only suggestion would be to start the plank first, get it smokin', and then put on your fish. Forgive me if that's what you did...:)

I love alder wood with seafood. If you want to get a little more smoke flavor give your plank a head start
on the grill. Don't put the fish on until the plank starts to smoke. :cool:

Jerome;
Very nice job. Smoked Salmon on a plank is one of my all time favorites. After the grill is up to temperature, I put a plank, fish side down, for two minutes to sterilize the plank. After two minutes, I flip the plank and leave it covered until it starts to smoke. I then put the fish on. Depending on how thick the filet is, it'll take 15-20 minutes for perfection...

I KNOW you enjoyed your properly cooked salmon.:D
