I'm not sure if I should post this over here or in the Appetizer Recipes section, but I decided to go here because it's really just a variation on the legendary Doug's Smoked Mushroom Dip recipe. We needed something to bring to my niece's 8th birthday party and wanted to make ABT's but didn't have enough peppers on hand to feed a crowd.
So I smoked some jalapenos while I was cooking something else and cooked off some of my homemade bacon ends. Also seen in the food processor are some green onions.
Everything pureed but still a little chunky.
Smoked cheddar added, along with garlic powder and S&P (I've adapted the recipe a bit over the years).
Then everything whipped up with cream cheese and sour cream, again following Doug's ratio.
Packaged up and ready to go. I added a little more smoked cheddar to the top.
This dip was quite a hit, and a great way to stretch a few jalapenos. I believe I used 3-4 of them along with enough bacon diced to almost cover the bottom of an 8-inch skillet.
Thanks for looking!
