Hi gang,

Sorry it's late and even sorrier it's a little lame - but, but, but... Started the day at sister & brother-in-laws. He does turkey on a Trager....

Which turned out ok. My son and his sweetie and most of the spread

The next day was the Civil War, an almost great game (had we won, it would have been GREAT - we did put up a good fight!) I made Turkey-Kimchi quesadillas

The previous pics were taken with my new phone, still trying to figure it out. Now its Saturday afternoon, and I'm getting around to cookin' our 1/2 turkey: TJ's prebrined with a dusting of Ray's Basil Citrus Rub. Ray's is a local market that makes up a couple of nice blends. (James: do you have one down your way?) Beer of the day on the left: m-m-m-m.

and a potato, cauliflower and onion gratin

O-h-h-h, what's going on out there - the eerie glow from below

Turkey's off and resting

and the gratin is out of the oven

and my little story comes to an end (Oh you devil, beer!) The turkey was cooked on Round Red, with a two headed snake, apple and oak... a little less than two hours. The taters ended up in the *cough*cough* indoor oven. It all tasted good though, real good! Thanks for checking in and I'll see ya next time!

This is just an amazing picture.

Brian looks like a great day with your Family, the turkey you did looks amazing and I would love the recipe for the potato dish. Looks superb.
Oh and good choice on the brew my Friend, Full sail don't make no bad beer.

Amen Bill!

I buttered and flour dusted (my ah-ha moment!) the pan. A layer of taters, a layer of onion slices, a layer of taters, a layer of cauliflower slices, salt pepper and nutmeg in there somewhere, a layer of grated cheddar, another layer of taters. Topped off with half-&-half. 350 degree oven. Topped off a second time and a third time with turkey drippings! Total cook time was about an hour.

The Beavers should have won. But with that great food it lessens the blow. There's always next year for football but good barbecue is a bag of Kingsford away.
