As a follow up this Christmas, the Genesis Silver I mentioned at the beginning of the story found its way back to my friend after his in-laws consigned it as "junk." Once again, Florida humidity and salt air haven't been kind to it over the past 8 years. I had actually forgotten, but it is a final year model with black knobs and trim. My friend and I agreed that I need to restore it again to prove his in-laws wrong!
