A better cover for the Performer in an environment of wind and rain by the ocean?

I just purchased a Weber Premium Grill Cover for my Weber Performer. Having put it in place, I have doubts about the protection it will provide out on my balcony and wonder if there are suggestions for a better option for a grill cover?

I live in a windy environment close to harbor in my town at the North Atlantic. So, I am worried about...
  • The length (height) of the cover, which leaves the lowest part and the wheels exposed to the wind and salty humidity.
  • Fastening straps, as there is only one on the Weber cover, and not likely to help when the wind find its way underneath and blows up the cover.
  • Possibly the cover fabric may be too thin and not provide enough protection from the elements.
Any feedback on the experience of others, or suggestions for alternatives, are welcome.

Keeping an eye on this? Good question.

I’ve been thinking about this potential “wind up the skirt” issue and it’s completely valid concern! I apologize for the flippant answer in my previous post.
Can you install come grommets to the lower edge and lash the cover down in Severe weather?
I got some of these and am doing just that very thing to use on my sidewalls on the canopy on the deck.IMG_1021.jpeg
I “tested them when I had some guests over during a cool, windy, damp day and the hooks worked beautifully!

I have a knockoff cover for my Performer bought it years ago they I believe are all designed to be at the top of the wheel level the one I have is the same as the King Kong heightwise. This is to allow airflow under the grill which if you had the cover almost touching the ground you will have very little lack of airflow leads to other issues.

Mine has a strap clip on the right front wheel as well as the left rear wheel which I don't bother with but it would stop it from blowing off. I have a King Kong cover for my silver C very well made and the material is kind of rubberized on the outside so no water is getting thru that cover when it rains. I found one for the Performer on Amazon looks like they got a 10% coupon so your under $30 bucks and it appears to have velcro straps at the bottom probably not all 4 wheels but that should stop it from blowing off.

I loved my Weber Performer cover. It still looked almost new after 4 years. We had a big windstorm come through one day and it flew away. We looked all over for it but couldn't find it. That was two years ago. When I saw the price of the new covers I decided to see how it went without a cover. I haven't covered my Performer in two years and it is on an uncovered patio, doing just fine.

Your not living by the Ocean leave it on a deck uncovered for 2 years it may not be doing just fine. Personally I had one of the new Weber Covers on my Silver C 3 or 4 years ago it was horrible faded into oblivion in one year the KingKong is still almost as black as when I bought it the red logo fades a bit but the rubberized coating has no cracks in the fabric which the orignal Weber Cover would give it up and become brittle after a number of years which could be many years. I had one of those also got it with the grill it was a rehab I did, it lasted a year but to be honest I have no idea how old it was.

I use to live in Cape Cod the salt water destroys everything over the years will eventually wear the shingles off the side of the house. My sister still owns a house there I go up once a year more and more people are going with the vinyl shingles they are expensive but no painting and they will last forever.
