No Mike I have done them two ways. Dry rub which I prefer so they are cooked this way from beginning to end or I will take them off after about 3 hours, cut them in half usually, sauce them and foil them. Then I load them back in the smoker in no particular order and cook them for about another hour and a half approx., take them back out and put them back for in for about 20 minutes . I find 3-2-1 is more time than I need. I also prefer my ribs done over water.
