Here are some photos from the 4th Annual Elk Grove BBQ Championship in Elk Grove, CA. I had the privilege of judging BBQ at this event...a fun day for the teams, judges, and public!

Congratulations to Son of Smoke for winning GC and Big B's Down-N-Dirty BBQ for winning RC--both use WSMs in competition!

I say, "Can I take your photo?" He says, "Sure, this is my first time, I don't know what I'm doing." I say, "Great, that will the caption for this photo." And the guy ends up winning the Backyard Contest! Congrats to you!

I say, "Can I take a photo of you with your pit?" He says, "Let me get my hat."

No, that's the Weber One-Touch Platinum kettle sold from 2010-2012. Looks like it took some inspiration from the Weber Q, doesn't it? It was not a big seller. Some posts at the time described the cart as flimsy feeling.

It was good to see you Chris. Thanks for coming by the tent and saying hello. Congrats to Zachary Galiste for his GC and to Bill/Yvonne Souza for their RGC. As usual, there were a ton of bullets at Elk Grove. Not the least of them was mine, used for the rib demo that day. She ran beautifully without the help of my trusty Stoker.
