1st Cook on 14.5 WSM: Cornish Hens & Wings

Well, this is what happens when I go to the local hardware store with a $20-off coupon and nobody's there to save me from myself ↓

Yes, that photo in the bottom right corner above is a mini Weber chimney starter (hey, you gotta be proportional with the 14.5 WSM, right ?). Anyway, shown below are some setup and prep shots. That yellow gadget is a prior acquisition which I used for the very first time in conjunction with the new 14.5 (it's a ThermoWorks TW8060 Dual Channel Alarm Thermometer). The flexible ceramic fiber-insulated probes fit very nicely into the WSM's silicone grommet.

Some action shots. Side dishes were grilled potatoes and asparagus. I smoked the wings in the WSM for a little while, then crisped them up on the gasser.

Time to eat...

I was quite happy with the performance of the 14.5. It seemed like the charcoal lasted longer on the 14.5 than a proportionally equivalent amount of charcoal would have lasted on my 18.5. Thanks for checking out the photos, hope everyone had a great weekend!

Outstanding looking cook, you broke that mini in nicely!!! Nice theme you have going, mini WSM. mini charcoal starter, mini chickens..........

Congrats!!!
I'm glad no one saved you from yourself....:D

You got a nice color on the Cornish.
