18 or 22, I'm struggling.

What have you noticed in regards to increased fuel consumption? Is it just a slight increase? Double?

Also, is it harder to hold temp with it emptier (like, if you're only cooking for a family of 3 or 4, as opposed to a crowd)?

I'm also thinking about the 18 vs 22 for a near-future purchase.

It does use more fuel, I say about 75% of the bag over 50%. Not that big of deal since I buy charcoal when it's on sale like it is at Home Depot now. I don't believe it's harder to hold temps. But I haven't had it much to compare. But I appreciate the larger space over the 18".

I've had both as well. I much prefer the 22. It does use more charcoal, but I don't worry about that. How much more? Well can't really say. I will use a whole bag of KBB for a 15 hour cook. I think i would do the same on my 18 and it would take about 3/4 of a bag.

I love my 18.5, but wish I had a 22.5... Sometimes...
