18 Jumbo Joe vs Go-Anywhere

Love my GA. I sold all of my kettles except the Performer. GA for small cooks (hamburgers, which I can cook 5 no problem, chicken, etc for 5 people).
I do use a Q1200 and now 2800 as well. They couple nicely with the GA.

Great topic,
Can anyone on here identify the correct grilling grate part number for an original Jumbo Smokey Joe 18"? I purchased one with hinged grates at Ace Hardware and it is slightly too small and drops through the ridge it is supposed to rest on.

Also, I just ditched my old GA gas unit that I never used at the local "take it or leave it" and purchased a new CGA with the 2 grilling grates and divider to try out. Seems like it will operate like a mini PK grill (I have a PK 360) in the fleet.

Not much to say about the jumbo as I don’t own one and have not cooked on one, but I do own a charcoal GA that punches well above its weight for a small unit. I’m often doing small charcoal cooks for a young family of 4 and it’s more than adequate, easy, and ultra efficient (and pretty steady) to boot. I’ve gone direct, indirect, rotisserie, riser, kebab hibachi style. I’ve even used my gas GA as the base for a lodge griddle plate and quick dogs, steaks, burgers. With an assortment of grates, I arguably prefer it over my 22…Depending on the task.

@Jon Alex
I think what you have there is the Smokey Joe Platinum, (The Outrider). Which is now discontinued.
It had a slightly larger cooking grate than the current Jumbo Joe.
And as you have discovered the current JJ cooking grate you bought is too small for it.
The current JJ cooking grate is the same one used on the 18.5" OT kettle.

I'm not sure if Weber still make the cooking grate for "The Outrider".

Edit: Maybe Weber do still make them. The PN you're looking for is 66913.

Oh, I don't own a GA but the JJ is a grate little cooker......
